The GFS Initiative CIC About us

Creating safe places

The purpose of the GFS Initiative CIC which is a non-profit organisation is to provide safe places through offering support, information and eventually privately owned land and buildings for specific use.

We endeavour to work with all demographics. Mental Health and disabilities does not recognise age, gender or religion. This will be achieved through partnership working with other charities, organisation, community groups, local authority and NHS programmes.

We have set several goals recognising our ambitions.

We plan to achieve these goals over a 5 years period. This plan will be reviewed at 6 monthly intervals to ensure we maintain focus and listen to you, the users of the service, reviewing feedback as an ongoing stage of our ongoing development.

The goals have been developed in response to each of the board’s personal experiences and passions associated with family values, recognising the value of communities working together and valuing the term, “It takes a village to raise a child and a village to see them through life’s changes and challenges to the end”.

We will be providing information of other organisations, facilities, and opportunities to promote their services as well as on how to access them that we can assist with transport to and from these activities.

We aim is to provide and assist in accessing activities for those of all ages in different settings, meeting varying requirements, wants and needs that you can engage with others and benefit from a community ethos or solitude and calm for “you time”.

Our services will include offering assistance to those needing forms completed, trying to secure housing, accessing services of the Citizens Advice Bureau, Age UK and much more. An online hub is already being developed for those who are tech savvy and for those who aren’t or prefer to talk to a person, we endeavor to provide that service.

In addition we endeavor to support those in need of respite. One to one support for daily activities such as shopping, dentist’s appointments etc. We will not be carers but recognised to be more like a buddy or helper.

Initially this service will be delivered in Crook and neighbouring areas for the geographical area to be expanded as part of our plan to grow the GFS Initiative CIC.
